about the work
A contemporary abstract painter Kerry builds layers in both paint and meaning, each equally critical for success, pouring liquids onto canvas which mix and merge creating beautiful shapes and subtle veils of colour. She develops the image brushing, scraping, staining, drawing, printing and with collage, revealing and concealing elements until it articulates that elusive magic and becomes personally significant and visually engaging, often saturated with uplifting joyous colour evoking a dreamlike quality open to interpretation.
After studying Fine Art at Reading University and completing a PGCE Kerry became Head of Art at Rockport Preparatory School in Northern Ireland and then at Westville House Preparatory School in Ilkley.
Since taking early retirement Kerry has exhibited with the Art-E-Motion's Venice Vending Machine, Tate Exchange Liverpool, and in Bristol; in London at Menier Gallery, Bankside; La Galleria, Pall Mall; Art for Youth, London; Society of Women Artists.
Local exhibitions include the Ilkley Art Trail, now Ilkley Arts, since 2011; Solar Gallery, Ilkley; Art for Youth North, Topcliffe and Kunthuis Art Gallery, Craike.
